Warner Chilcott Laboratory Extension Larne
We recently successfully completed the new laboratory extension at the Warner Chilcott Pharmaceutical site on the outskirts of Larne. This project was another chance to work alongside the Gilbert Ash contracts team.
The project started in the middle of June 2009 and was completed in December, the building handed over in two stages ground floor first followed by the first floor and the roof plant area this made planning very important as the ground floor would become a live building and made fully functional for the Warner Chilcott staff.

The new extension on the ground floor consisted of a new fume cupboard room, a new state of the art laboratory complete with a new energy saving dimmable lighting scheme and fitted with new compartment bench trunking for all work stations and also a bright and spacious write up area complete with computer work stations for all staff members.

The first floor area’s comprise of mainly general offices from directors to office managers the floor also includes a modern, bright and spacious training room kitted out with floor box power and IT outlets which allows the room furniture layout to be modfifed for the particular event providing a work point, the room also consists of a new white board technology set up which provides power point presentation, internet access and much more.
The electrical infrastructure for the extension was treated as an independent building for most of the services originating with its own electrical switch room, IT comms cabinet and mechanical control panel all on the first floor level, the existing fire alarm system was extended and upgrades as well as the public address system and door access system.
The plumbing and heating installations on this new Laboratory was connected into the existing site wide network during a number of planned shutdowns to minimise disruption to the client. The new ventilation installation was provided through roof mounted air handling units in the new external plant area.
Harvey Group also installed a gas fired air conditioning system for the first time on this site.
The project finished successfully and to a first class standard and all works completed on time for the hand over dates thanks to the contracts team's planning. We are currently working alongside the client to ensure they have a smooth transition into this new facility. |
