Modular Construction : 11 December 2009
Modular construction is nothing new to Harvey Group.  We have used this approach in many forms over the years to help us successfully deliver First Class Services. 
As part of our continual desire to improve our approach to each project we have focused on the advantages of modular construction and how it can help to reduce labor requirements and subsequently lead to the reduction of costs for the end client.
 
The ability to produce a template allows us to ensure that each installation is identical and ensures that the quality is maintained throughout the project. 

At the Abercorn Residential Centre (ARC) in Titanic Quarter Belfast, we utilized modular prefabrication methods for the mechanical services in each apartment.  The unit included gas, water and heating distribution manifolds.
 
The initial design for the services is displayed below.  The aim for the project was to reduce the size required and maximize the use of the restrictive space.
 
 
 
We were involved at the initial design stage which allowed us to develop the design and positioning of the mechanical services and produce the optimum solution which would ensure that each apartment was identical and that the same high standard of installation quality could be replicated in each of the 474 apartments and penthouses. 
 
The following solutions were produced and a test board was produced to see how this would translate into production.



 
After minor adjustments in the valve arrangement layout the optimal solution was agreed.  We then started construction of the modules in our workshop which were then transported to the final location on site where they were fixed into position with the connecting pipe work.  The following pictures show the construction in the workshop nd pipe layout.
