Windsor Walk is a 5,255m2 centre of excellence and is occupied by King’s college hospital. This building rehouses the world leading Harris birthright centre, caring for more than 10,000 patients each year, in a high quality hospital and research environment. The facilities include ultrasound scanning, consulting rooms, treatment rooms, diagnostic laboratories, research laboratories, teaching facilities, lecture theatre, conference rooms, associated administrative and office spaces.

The project involved the partial demolition and refurbishment of the existing terrace houses on Windsor walk. To the rear of the houses the new medical centre was constructed and connected to the refurbished houses. Feature columns extend from the ground and are shaped to form the arched roof of the building.

Electrical services included the following: Category 6 data installation, access control, fire alarm and a high quality audio visual system. A bespoke lighting system was also installed to help create a calming environment.

Mechanical services included the following: Natural gas pipework, a centralised mechanical ventilation system, an air tube system and an irrigation system. A complex building management system was installed to allow the client to electronically control all aspects of the M&E services and to monitor energy consumption. Underfloor heating was installed throughout to conform with the minimalist and modern aesthetics of this building.
