Energy efficient natural ventilation was provided throughout the new school via a combination of manual and automatic openable windows. Underfloor heating serves the main teaching areas of the school with radiators mounted at high level within storage areas. Rainwater harvesting, energy efficient LED Lighting and photovoltaics were all incorporated into the scheme to ensure an energy-efficient building that achieved BREEAM rating of excellent.
Harvey Group were responsible for the design, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of the mechanical and electrical services on the new St Joseph’s high School in Crossmaglen. The project included the design development and construction of a new high school to accommodate 700+ pupils.
